What is KDA and Why Does It Matter?
KDA stands for Kills, Deaths and Assists — the core metric that defines your combat performance in competitive shooters. Whether you're playing Valorant, BGMI, CS2, Free Fire, or Apex Legends, your KDA ratio tells your squad, your rank system and your future teammates how effective you are in a fight.
How to Calculate Your KDA
The formula is simple: KDA = (Kills + Assists) ÷ Deaths. If you have 0 deaths, the denominator is treated as 1 to avoid division by zero. For example, 14 kills, 6 deaths and 8 assists gives a KDA of (14+8)÷6 = 3.67 — PRO tier.
KDA Benchmarks by Game
In Valorant, a KDA above 1.5 is above the Silver average, while 2.5+ is expected at Diamond rank. In BGMI and PUBG Mobile, a KDA of 3.0+ is elite given that deaths end your entire match. In CS2, the average competitive KDA hovers near 1.0, so 1.4+ signals you're performing well.
KDA vs K/D: What's the Difference?
K/D (Kill/Death) only counts kills divided by deaths. KDA adds assists to the kills side, making it a fairer measure for support players and IGLs who set up kills for teammates. Most modern ranked systems — including Valorant's and Apex's — use KDA-style metrics rather than pure K/D.
How to Improve Your KDA in Indian Ranked Games
The fastest way to raise your KDA is to reduce ego fights and play for assists. In the Indian gaming scene, where high-ping lobbies (80–120ms on Delhi servers) are common, positioning matters more than raw aim. Use the HangOn Ping Test to find your best server before queuing. Consistent 20-round sessions tracked with the Hours Tracker will show you your improvement curve over time.
