Why eDPI is the Only Fair Sensitivity Comparison

Two players can both say “I play 0.4 sens” and have completely different real sensitivities if one uses a 400 DPI mouse and the other 1600. Multiplying DPI by in-game sens gives eDPI — the number that actually describes how far your crosshair moves per centimetre of mousepad. When a pro's settings page lists 0.35 at 800 DPI, that's 280 eDPI, and you can match it exactly at 0.7 on a 400 DPI mouse.

Finding Your eDPI Sweet Spot

Lower eDPI gives finer micro-adjustments at the cost of slower 180° turns; that's why tactical shooters trend low and battle royales trend high. If you're above the pro range for your game, drop 10–15% per week rather than halving overnight — your muscle memory adapts gradually. Track your KDA during the transition to confirm the change is helping.

DPI Myths: Higher isn't Better

Marketing pushes 16,000+ DPI mice, but virtually all pros play at 400–1600 DPI. What matters is total eDPI and a consistent, low-latency sensor. On the mousepad side, Indian summers are rough on cloth pads — swap or clean them regularly, because friction drift silently changes your effective sensitivity.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is eDPI?

eDPI (effective DPI) = mouse DPI × in-game sensitivity. It lets players on different DPI settings compare their true sensitivity — 400 DPI at 0.8 sens and 800 DPI at 0.4 sens are the same 320 eDPI.

What is a good eDPI for Valorant?

Most Valorant pros sit between 200 and 350 eDPI (e.g. 800 DPI × 0.3). Beginners often play far higher — lowering toward the pro range usually improves precision within a week of adjustment.

What is a good eDPI for CS2?

CS2 pros typically use 600–1100 eDPI (e.g. 400 DPI × 2.0). CS2's yaw is lower than Valorant's, so the numbers look bigger for the same real-world arm movement.

What is cm/360?

cm/360 is how many centimetres you must move your mouse to turn a full 360° in game. It's the only measure that's directly comparable across games — 30–50cm/360 is the common competitive range for tac shooters.
