Terms & Conditions

Version 1.0 · Effective April 13, 2026 · All Platform Features

These Terms govern your use of all HangOn features: tournament marketplace, gamer discovery, chat, social feed, voice rooms, venue booking, rewards, and all future features. By using HangOn, you agree to these Terms in full.

1. About HangOn and These Terms

HangOn Interactive Private Limited ("HangOn") operates a hyperlocal gaming super-app for India. The Platform includes: tournament discovery and participation, gamer profile and discovery (swipe), direct and group chat, social feed, voice rooms, gaming café venue booking, a rewards marketplace, and related features.

These Terms apply to all features of the Platform. Feature-specific rules (e.g. tournament rules, venue booking terms) are additional terms that supplement but do not replace these Terms. In case of conflict, feature-specific terms prevail for that feature.

2. Definitions

"Platform"
The HangOn mobile application and website hangon.live and all subdomains
"User"
Any person with a HangOn account: Gamer, Partner, or Admin
"Gamer"
A User who plays in tournaments and uses social features
"Partner"
A verified business (café or online host) who creates tournaments or lists venues
"Minor"
Any User under 18 years of age
"Guardian"
Parent or legal guardian of a Minor User
"UGC"
User Generated Content: anything a User posts, uploads, or transmits on the Platform
"Tournament"
A skill-based gaming competition created by a Partner
"Discovery"
The gamer matching/swipe feature to find other gamers
"Voice Room"
A live audio session between users
"Venue"
A physical gaming café listed on the Platform
"HangOn Credits"
Non-monetary, non-withdrawable platform credits
"TDS"
Tax Deducted at Source under the Income Tax Act, 1961

3. Eligibility

3.1 Age

Minimum age is 13. Users aged 13–17 require verified Guardian consent for all financial features (tournaments, venue booking). Users must provide accurate date of birth.

3.2 Geographic Restrictions

Real-money tournaments are blocked in: Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Odisha, Nagaland, and Sikkim. Social and non-monetary features remain available. Circumventing geo-blocks is a violation of these Terms.

3.3 One Account Rule

Each person may hold only one HangOn account. Multiple accounts are grounds for immediate ban of all accounts. Device fingerprinting is used to detect violations.

4. Account and Security

  • Register with a valid Indian mobile number, verified by OTP
  • Keep your login credentials confidential — you are responsible for all activity on your account
  • Notify support@hangon.live immediately of any unauthorised access
  • Do not transfer, sell, or share your account with any other person
  • HangOn may suspend or delete accounts that violate these Terms without prior notice for severe violations

5. Tournament Feature — Terms

HangOn is the technology marketplace. The Partner is the Tournament Organiser. HangOn does not host, run, or control tournaments. All tournament disputes are resolved by HangOn's team as final arbiters.

5.1 Entry Fees and Pool Distribution

Entry Fee pools are split as: Platform Fee (HangOn) + Host Earning (Partner) + Prize Pool (winners). The exact split percentages are shown on every tournament card before registration. By joining, you accept the displayed split.

5.2 Prize Pool Disclosure

Prize pools are shown as "up to ₹X" — the maximum if all slots fill. Actual confirmed pool updates in real time. No minimum prize pool is guaranteed unless explicitly stated.

5.3 Refunds

Full refunds apply when: tournament is cancelled, minimum players not met, or HangOn cancels for policy/technical reasons.

No refunds for: no-shows, disconnections, wrong IGN, rule violations, or simply not winning.

5.4 Winner Verification and Human Review

Every payout undergoes automated screenshot matching and a mandatory human review by HangOn staff. No payout is released without admin approval. HangOn's verification decision is final.

5.5 TDS

TDS is deducted at 30% on net winnings (prize minus entry fee) above ₹100 per Section 194BA of the Income Tax Act, 1961. PAN is mandatory for net wins above ₹100. Form 16A is issued annually.

6. Gamer Discovery Feature — Terms

Discovery lets gamers find and connect with other gamers in their area. This is a social feature — not a dating or romantic matching service. Misuse for harassment or unsolicited contact will result in immediate suspension.

6.1 Profile Visibility

Your gamer profile is visible to other users based on your privacy settings. You control: who can see your profile, whether you appear in discovery, and your location visibility (city-level only — exact location is never shown).

6.2 Swipe and Connection

When you swipe right on a gamer and they swipe right on you, a connection is made and chat is enabled. You can remove connections at any time. Removing a connection deletes the chat history for both parties.

6.3 Blocking

You may block any user at any time. A blocked user cannot see your profile, send you messages, or see you in discovery. Blocks are permanent unless you manually unblock.

6.4 Minor Safety in Discovery

Minor accounts (ages 13–17) are only shown in discovery to other users within a 3-year age range unless the minor's guardian explicitly expands this setting. Minors cannot be shown to users aged 21 and above in discovery without Guardian permission.

6.5 Prohibited Use of Discovery

  • Do not use discovery to solicit commercial transactions outside the Platform
  • Do not use discovery to recruit for gambling, betting, or illegal activities
  • Do not send unsolicited sexual, romantic, or explicit content to any user
  • Do not impersonate another gamer or use fake profile photos

7. Chat and Messaging — Terms

7.1 Direct Messages

Direct messaging is available between connected users (mutual swipe). Chat is end-to-end encrypted in transit. HangOn staff do not read private messages except pursuant to a valid legal order or to investigate a reported abuse complaint.

7.2 Tournament Group Chat

Registered players in a tournament have access to a group chat for that tournament, visible to all registered players and the hosting Partner. This is a semi-public channel — do not share personal contact information in tournament chats.

7.3 Prohibited Content in Chat

  • No sexual or sexually suggestive content, especially involving minors — immediate permanent ban and law enforcement referral
  • No hate speech, threats, or harassment
  • No sharing of personal details of third parties without consent (doxxing)
  • No spam, phishing, or unsolicited commercial messages
  • No content that facilitates cheating, fraud, or money laundering
  • No sharing of malware, dangerous links, or fraudulent content

7.4 Message Retention

Messages are retained for 12 months from the date of sending, after which they are permanently deleted from our servers. Deleted messages and deleted accounts: messages may persist in the other party's chat history for up to 30 days after deletion.

7.5 Reporting

Use the Report button in any chat to report abusive messages. HangOn reviews reports within 24 hours. For immediate safety concerns, email safety@hangon.live.

8. Social Feed — Terms

8.1 What You Can Post

The social feed allows gaming-related posts: clips, screenshots, tournament results, gaming opinions, team lookups, and gamer culture content. Posts may include text, images, and short video clips.

8.2 You Own Your Content — You License HangOn to Use It

You retain ownership of content you post. By posting, you grant HangOn a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display, distribute, and promote your content within the Platform and in HangOn's marketing materials. You may withdraw this licence by deleting the content; HangOn may retain cached copies for up to 30 days.

8.3 Prohibited Feed Content

  • Graphic violence, gore, or content glorifying self-harm
  • Sexual content of any kind — the Platform is accessible to users aged 13+
  • CSAM (child sexual abuse material) — mandatory law enforcement referral
  • Defamatory content about real individuals
  • Misinformation designed to cause harm
  • Copyright-infringing content (game clips subject to game publisher's streaming policy)
  • Commercial spam, pyramid schemes, or get-rich-quick promotions
  • Content that reveals another person's private information without consent

8.4 Content Moderation — IT Rules 2021

As an intermediary under the IT (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, HangOn:

  • Removes content reported as illegal within 36 hours of a valid complaint
  • Removes CSAM within 24 hours of detection or complaint
  • Appoints a Grievance Officer (Indian resident) to handle complaints
  • Publishes a monthly compliance report detailing content actions taken
  • Preserves records of removed content for 180 days for law enforcement purposes

8.5 Takedown and Appeals

If your content is removed, you will be notified with a reason. You may appeal to grievance@hangon.live within 14 days. Appeals are reviewed within 7 days. HangOn's decision on appeals is final.

9. Voice Rooms — Terms

9.1 Nature of Voice Rooms

Voice rooms are live audio sessions. They may be public (anyone can join) or private (invite only). The room creator (host) controls who can speak and can remove participants.

9.2 No Recording Guarantee

HangOn does not record voice room audio. However, other participants in a voice room may record using their own devices. By entering a voice room, you acknowledge that other participants may record the session.

9.3 Prohibited Conduct in Voice Rooms

  • No content that would be prohibited in chat or the social feed
  • No sharing of tournament room credentials in public voice rooms
  • No impersonating HangOn staff or other users
  • No live audio that constitutes harassment, threats, or abuse

9.4 Minor Safety in Voice Rooms

Minor users (13–17) can join voice rooms tagged "All Ages." Minors are restricted from untagged or "18+" voice rooms. Room hosts are responsible for tagging their rooms accurately. Failure to tag a room containing adult content as 18+ is a violation of these Terms.

10. Venue Booking — Terms

10.1 HangOn as Booking Platform

HangOn facilitates the booking of gaming café slots. The café (Partner) is the service provider. HangOn is not responsible for the quality of facilities, equipment, or service at any venue.

10.2 Booking and Payment

Venue bookings are paid at the time of booking via UPI or card. Booking is confirmed only after payment is processed and the venue confirms availability.

10.4 Venue Conduct

Users are expected to treat venue staff and equipment with respect. Damage to venue equipment may result in additional charges levied by the venue directly. HangOn is not liable for disputes between users and venues regarding physical damage or conduct.

10.5 Physical Safety

HangOn does not guarantee the safety of any physical venue. Users attend venues at their own risk. Report unsafe conditions to safety@hangon.live and to local authorities as appropriate.

11. Rewards and Brand Partner Marketplace

11.1 HangOn Credits

HangOn Credits are a closed-loop, non-monetary promotional instrument. Credits cannot be withdrawn as cash, transferred between accounts, or exchanged for real money. Credits can only be used for Entry Fees on the HangOn Platform. Credits expire 12 months from issuance unless otherwise stated. HangOn reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the Credits programme with 30 days notice.

11.2 Brand Partner Vouchers and Rewards

HangOn may offer rewards from brand partners (discount vouchers, gaming merchandise, subscriptions). These rewards are subject to the terms of the issuing brand partner. HangOn is not responsible for the quality, availability, or fulfilment of brand partner rewards. Brand partner rewards have no cash value and cannot be exchanged.

11.3 Tax on Rewards

Rewards with a fair market value above applicable thresholds may attract tax liability under Indian income tax law. HangOn will inform users when a reward may be taxable and, where required, will deduct TDS before issuing the reward.

12. Prohibited Conduct — Entire Platform

The following are prohibited across all Platform features and may result in immediate termination, forfeiture of any funds or credits, and legal action:

  • Creating multiple accounts or using another person's account
  • Using cheats, hacks, or software that provides unfair gaming advantages
  • Colluding to manipulate tournament results
  • Submitting false, edited, or fabricated screenshots
  • Transmitting CSAM or sexual content involving minors — mandatory law enforcement referral
  • Doxxing (publishing private personal information of others without consent)
  • Harassing, threatening, or stalking other users
  • Impersonating other users or HangOn staff
  • Reverse engineering, scraping, or exploiting the Platform
  • Money laundering or using the Platform for illegal financial transactions
  • Attempting to circumvent geographic restrictions or age verification
  • Using the Platform to organise gambling or betting activities

13. Intellectual Property

All Platform content including the HangOn brand, logos, design, software, and text is owned by HangOn Interactive Private Limited or its licensors. User-Generated Content remains owned by the User subject to the licence granted in Section 8.2. Game trademarks and content belong to their respective publishers.

You may not reproduce, scrape, distribute, or create derivative works from any Platform content without written consent from HangOn.

14. Platform Availability

HangOn provides the Platform on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Scheduled maintenance will be communicated in advance where possible. HangOn is not liable for losses arising from Platform downtime.

15. Limitation of Liability

  • HangOn is not liable for the conduct of Gamers, Partners, or third parties on the Platform
  • HangOn is not liable for content posted by users on the social feed, in chat, or in voice rooms
  • HangOn is not liable for failure of third-party services (Razorpay, game servers, telecoms)
  • HangOn is not liable for physical incidents at venues
  • HangOn's total liability for any claim shall not exceed entry fees or booking fees paid by that user in the 3 months preceding the claim
  • HangOn is not liable for indirect, consequential, incidental, or punitive damages

16. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes shall first be attempted to be resolved through HangOn's in-app dispute mechanism. Unresolved disputes shall be referred to arbitration under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, seated in Delhi. Consumer disputes may also be referred to the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum.

17. Amendments

HangOn may update these Terms at any time. Material changes are notified via push notification and email at least 7 days before taking effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
