How the reaction time test works

The panel turns red, waits a random time between 1.5 and 4 seconds, then turns green. The timer starts the moment green is drawn and stops when you click or tap. Clicking during red counts as a false start, so you can't guess the timing.

What your score includes

Your number is your reaction plus your hardware: the monitor's refresh delay, the mouse or touchscreen's input delay and the browser. That's why a score only means something next to other scores on the same setup. If you want to see how much your screen adds, try the FPS and frame time calculator.

Getting a more reliable result

Do at least five runs, sit the way you normally play, and use the mouse you game with. Ignore the occasional fast fluke and look at the average. If you are tuning your aim as well, the eDPI calculator and sensitivity converter help you keep settings consistent.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good reaction time for gaming?+

Most people land between 200 and 270 ms on a visual click test. Competitive players often average under 200 ms. Your score also includes your monitor, mouse and browser delay, so compare results on the same setup.

Why is my reaction time different every run?+

Reaction time naturally varies by 20–50 ms between attempts. That's why this test averages your last five runs, which is a far better guide than a single lucky click.

Can I improve my reaction time?+

A little. Sleep, hydration and warming up help on the day, and regular aim training sharpens how quickly you act on what you see. A high refresh-rate monitor and low-latency mouse remove a few milliseconds of hardware delay.

Does my monitor affect the result?+

Yes. A 60Hz screen can add up to around 16 ms before the green even appears, while 144Hz or 240Hz shows it sooner. Check your frame time with the FPS calculator.
