What Is KDA in Games — and Is It Actually a Good Measure?

KDA stands for kills, deaths and assists. It's the most-quoted stat in shooters — and one of the most misunderstood.

How KDA is calculated

The standard formula is (kills + assists) ÷ deaths. If you have zero deaths, the deaths are usually treated as one. You can calculate yours in seconds with the KDA calculator.

What's a good KDA?

It depends on the game and your role. A KDA above 1.0 means you contribute more than you die; around 2.0 and up is strong in most shooters. But compare yourself to players in the same role, not across roles.

Where KDA misleads

• Entry fraggers die more by design — their job is to open space.
• Support players may have low kills but high impact.
• Saving your KDA by playing passive can lose rounds.
