What DPI Should You Use for Gaming? A Simple Answer
Mouse boxes advertise huge DPI numbers, but almost nobody games at them. DPI is how many counts the mouse reports per inch of movement. What actually matters is your total sensitivity: DPI multiplied by your in-game sensitivity, called eDPI.
The common choice: 400, 800 or 1600
Most competitive players pick 400, 800 or 1600 DPI and adjust the in-game sensitivity to taste. Modern sensors are accurate at all of these. 800 is a popular middle ground because it keeps desktop use comfortable too.
eDPI and cm/360
Two players at different DPI can have the same feel if their eDPI matches. The eDPI calculator shows your eDPI and cm/360, the distance you move the mouse to turn a full circle in game.
Changing games
Keep your DPI the same and convert only the in-game number. Use the sensitivity converter, for example CS2 to Valorant.
